Damouchari is a unique natural port at the coasts of East Pelion. Build on the remains of an ancient settlement and a Byzantine castle was deserted by the habitants because of pirates incursions during the 17century. For the visitor Damouchari seems to be a village with unique beauty and extraordinary calmness. The Venetian castle is a witness of the great past. As for sunbathing and swimming you will find small bays with peddles.
We will begin our walk from Agios Ioannis via Papa Nero beach. At the end of the beach of Papa-Nero starts the old path (3 km.) which leads to Damouchari. We will walk under the shade of plate’s trees and through olive groves and we will admire the unique view of the Aegean sea lying under our feet. After 45 minutes walk we arrive to Damouchari where we visit the old castle, the church of Saint Nikolas (1800) and take some time to rest. We will walk down to the beach of Damouchari where in the end of it starts a famous stone path to top. We will make a short ascent via stone path, to admire a panoramic view of Damouchari, Papa Nero and Agios Ioannis.
We will make a half-hour walk through a little part of stone path which drives to Tsagarada village. A panoramic view is staggering. Your unique experience will be unforgettable.
Then we will back to Damouchari village to take our lunch/dinner in a traditional tavern with local fish dishes and homemade wine or tsipouro. We return to Agios Ioannis by mini bus.
