“Kritsa Restaurant” is a three-storey neoclassical building constructed in 1930 and is situated in the central square of Portaria. It has been recently renovated with respect to the tourism tradition of the area. Until 1939 it had been running as a dairy, when Thanassis Kritsas gave to the building its present appearance and both hotel as well as restaurant were named “Kentrikon” (Central), after their unique location in Portaria`s square. It used to be one of the best hotels o its age, famous for its excellent cuisine.
At the restaurant`s beautiful dining-room the visitor can enjoy authentic local dishes. In a high-ceilinged tasteful room with light colors, white tablecloths, discrete decoration and a large fireplace. Eleni and Niki, with their hospitality and charming smile, will make you feel like being home. Good Greek cuisine is generally divided into two categories: home-style cooked food and grilled meat. Greek pasta, and famous handmade savory pies with various fillings. House specialties proudly present many of Pelion’s regional traditional recipes, including Spetsofai (traditionally handmade sausage with tomato and peppers), herb eggs, Galotiri cheese, Tsitsiravla (pickled herbs), Trahana soup with cheese or sausage, Boumbari (veal and tripe sausage) with baked potatoes and much more.
